| About: | While the competition for "Best Luau" is tough in the Hawaiian Islands, this spectacular event might deserve the title. It takes place on 12 acres of gorgeous beachfront property in Western O'ahu. Guests are shuttled to the cove during the day and, upon arrival, are invited to participate in authentic Hawaiian games and activities. At sunset the roasted pig is brought forth, and guests can heap their plates and settle down to watch the show. Hawaii's history is told through music and dance. Call or check the web site for prices and reservations. |

All the "free" stuff had mile long lines. You had to choose between getting your free drink, tattoo, grass lai and boat ride or watching the roaming show. I chose to not stand in line my whole time and consequently missed out on all the free stuff.Completely ridiculous! Food was kinda lame. Fried chicken and macaroni salad for $89.00, seriously? You get hte feeling they're milking ya for all they can get. There's a jewelry stand, ice cream stand, big store...all selling over priced things that are 10 times more pricy than at the International Market. The hula show was impressive. Asking for volunteers all the time was lame. Yes, it was funny to see Joe from Idaho try to hula but after the 15th volunteer it gets old. Costumes were gorgeous! Announcer was just like a cheesy Vegas show. Made us laugh though.Glad I went once i got over being angry about the huge lines. Not worth that much money. Should have gone to Creations Luau. ps. if you buy the most expensive tickets you do get preferential treatment.
Setting is nice but for $75 - this is guaranteed the worst food you will EVER ever eat. No veggies, soggy salad - and then sticky rice and fatty pig - that's IT !! Ice cream costs extra. Drinks cost extra if you want good liquor. Many workers are unenthusiatic. Drinks taste overly sweet (juice is all sugary and probably 5% real juice content). Very far from Waikiki. Waste of 4 hours !! Would not recommend.
I've been to several luas including the Tehati productions and Island Breeze productions, and I really enjoyed this one. It was long and leisurely. They took us to the island around 4:00, where we have a couple of hours to digest the beautiful scenery and Hawaiian Cultural activities, including lei making and hula lessons. Then they had an authentic Huki Lau ceremony. And finally the evening show and dinner. All in all, I would say this one is the most authentic, and wonderful for families and small children. Much more than a dinner show - It's a cultural experience. The ladies next to me from Australia were thrilled to death, and felt like it was well worth the $125 for VIP tickets.
