Though I always enjoy going to zoo's...this zoo is lousy. It was lousy when I was a kid, and it's still lousy now that I'm an adult. But, alas...the worst zoo I've ever been to was in Guam, so I won't give the Honolulu Zoo no more than 2 stars...I'll save the one star from the Guam zoo.
Worth the price of Admission: Honolulu Zoo proclaims itself the best zoo in 2300 miles. Thats quite funny since it is the ONLY one within that distance, something about being in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, but at the same time it is true. Thanks to the military rate my son and I paid just $5 to see the exhibits at the zoo. The exhibits were worth that. They had elephants, tigers, zebra's, girraffes, primates and plenty of birds and plants. It took us just about two hours to walk the entire zoo. They also do not mind if you bring your own food in and eat lunch on the lawns, just clean up your trash. Was it a 5 star zoo, well no, but it was much better than I had anticpated and well worth the cost. If you aren't a local its still extremely reasonable. It would have cost just $7 if we had not had the military ID. I recommend taking a tour of it while living here or visiting.
