I must say that I completely disagree with JBird, who obviously has some kind of aversion to microwave owens. I have been a regular customer at Lupe's Escape for well over 10 years. Their food has always been very good, fresh and the service excellent. Yes, it has an old feel, but I have never found it to be dirty. As to the microwaves, I don't have any personal experience in the restaurant industry but I do enjoy getting my food quickly and for a good price. I would STRONGLY recommend this establishment to anyone.

This place microwave's almost all of their food dishes.

You can see all of their microwaves in the kitchen. As I was sitting in the waiting room for a table, I was able to see into their kitchen. I counted about 6 or 7 microwaves in there. They had one small grill and stove which they were not using at all. I sat and watched the guys in the kitchen for about 20 minutes while waiting for a table. They had all of the food pre-made sort of like a school cafeteria where they just throw it together. They would put everything on the plate and then microwave every dish for a total of 2 minutes on which I saw was High Power.

Their food is not good at all. It tastes like it has been microwaved, and you can tell because all of the cheese that they put on top of the burritos is thoroughly melted. You can see all of the microwaves they have in their kitchen when you walk past the bar area to go sit down. The inside of this place is pretty grungy and dirty looking also.

Their chips and salsa weren't even good. Please, I recommend you do not go to this place. Juan Colorado and On The Border are even better than this place and they are huge chains!

Pros: The rice and beans are okay.

Cons: Microwaved food, bad menu selection, bad margarita's, bad chips & salsa, dirty & grungy.

Reminisent of Poor Shoes Restaraunt that was on Barbur up until the late 70's early eighties. I loved that place very charming.
I would have to agree with whoever said this is more of a restraunt for drinkers, simply because last time I went there with my sister there was some guy who was being loud and very obscenecene and vulgar at the next table and I'm not talking about just cussing or something it was bad even by dive bar standards. It was awile ago so I can't say I remeber exactly what he was saying but he was joking around with the other people at his table and being very beligerent. Other than that I love this place. Good food and not over priced.
