We bought a car from this dealership. We experienced a real runaround with the financing - they pulled the "bait and switch". They said to call with any problems or questions. I have left numerous messages with no response. The irony is that my spouse enjoys the car we bought so much, we are thinking of trading in my car for a similar model. Needless to say, it will be from another dealer. Stay away! I wish we had.
What a miserable experience. I went in looking for a comfortable reasonably priced car and they had me talked into the most expensive car in their lot. I told them that if they could make the pricing work I would be interested. They put together the pricing and made me feel like a loser for not making enough money. I left but returned a week later to look at a base model. Once again they pushed me towards more expensive cars but I held my ground and stayed w/i my price range. Once again, the FM pulled some wierd strategy where he tries to make you feel like a broke loser. Not the way to win my sale. I walked out again. They posted that they kicked me out so no other dealers would do business with me. Fortunately other dealers knew of this practice and could see I was pretty well mannered and had a comfortable and steady income. I bought a great new Subi in Vancouver for thousands less than advertised @ Carr. I referred a friend to the vancouver dealership one month later and she had a great experience as well and bought a new car from them. I am so happy I didn't do business with Carr and I'm so happy I could reward the Vancouver dealer with another sale on top of mine!
As the other reviewer mentioned, Carr is shady!!!
My fiance and I spent a weekend shopping for Subaru Imprezas, and unfortunately started in Portland and Beaverton first, and experienced some of the most shady dealings imaginable. Carr Subaru was the absolute worst dealer we had ever dealt with, and we've dealt with some shady dealers. After hours of bartering to get the price to a reasonable amount, we finally verbally "settled" at a monthly payment that my fiance and I were comfortable with. We shook hands and they worked up the papers while we waited happily to drive away in our new car. When we finally got ready to sign the papers, we noticed that they had extended the payments on the car by a year without even saying so, and had actually decreased the trade in value of our vehicle to make the numbers work to fit the monthly payment we had been trying to reach. They did this even though we explicitly stated that we would not extend the payments another year several times. When we confronted the salesman about the numbers changing, he obviously lied to us, and said that it must have been a miscommunication between him and his manager. Although, I got the feeling that this happens commonly, and he felt embarrassed to work for such a low-life. Robert, if you read this, have some dignity and quit.
To make matters worse, while we were going over the papers, they removed the registration from our vehicle without our knowledge, forgot to put it back before we left, and then refused to come back to the store after hours to return the registration until we threatened to call the police. The manager "Manny" I believe, was laughing at us because he said we were ridiculous not to take his offer, and that he would tell his wife what a mistake we made and she would laugh at our ignorance as well. I spoke to others at my workplace, Intel, who have had similar experiences. How does this a**hole still own one of the biggest dealerships in the US?
Our visit to Royal Moore Subaru in Hillsboro was exactly the opposite. Our salesman, Robert or Bob, was straight shooting and to the point, and the sales manager didn't give us any of the same BS. We had the price of the car down to the payment we wanted in about 15 minutes, and we were out of the dealership within a few hours with our new car. They were friendly, honest, and surprisingly more reasonably priced, even thought they are a smaller dealer. Please consider this dealership. It's worth the trip to Hillsboro from Portland or Beaverton. I kick myself for not starting there and wasting so much time at the other dealerships.
