My daughter went to this school 6 years ago. I loved it so much I couldn't wait to send my son there this year. This co-op is a wonderful partnership with the teacher and the other parents. It is constructive and educational play with a purpose. The kids learn through play, and they learn A LOT at this school. The teacher really taps into the individual personalities of each and every child. My favorite room is the art room where there is always something different to do everyday. I come home after helping with tons of ideas and educational opportunities for both me and my child. I like watching not only my own child learn and grow, but his friends as well. My daughter and I still have friends from when she went there 6 yrs ago and I know I will have more friends for years after my son graduates the school.
SSPS has been a wonderful experience!!! I am a single Mom with a limited income. All three of my children have attended South Shore Pre School. When we moved from Texas in July 2006 I had no idea which pre school was best. I began to search for local pre schools in the area and found SSPS to be a "perfect fit". I came to a summer play date and found Teacher Kathy, knowledgeable, experienced, easygoing, kind and fun. My children adore her!!! I have immensely enjoyed my time spent with my own children, as well as their classmates when I parent help. It has been very rewarding to see my childrenâs progress. I love helping in the Art room where the children have made some pretty impressive masterpieces over the years. Each month covers fun and exciting learning activities for the children. Also, I have found through my parent helping and serving as a board member that the parents have become an extended family. The parentâs have respect for each other and treat all of the children as they would their own. I never worry when my children are at SSPS, as I know they are in the best of care and have a blast. Every time I pick up my children after school they seem happy and excited to tell me about the fun they had that day. They did not realize that within their day there was a carefully planned out set of goals for learning through reading, art and social play etc., but the children just think they are just having a great time. I would highly recommend to any parent that is looking for a new pre school, or a change for their child, or in my case children to stop by and check out SSPS.
SSPS is a fabulous school! We moved here last summer from the mid-west and although we live in Tigard, we don't mind the drive into Lake Oswego for the sole purpose of attending SSPS.
My middle child attended SSPS for her 2nd year of pre-school (her first year in the mid-west was a traditional school) this past year and the 'learning through play' philosophy was new to us. She thrived with this philosophy and now our youngest will be starting her first year here in the fall and we can't wait!
The school is warm, inviting and the families participating here are all very welcoming and supportive (our oldest has a disability and he is just as welcome here as our other children, had we lived here when he was in pre-school I wouldn't have hesitated to send him here).
Teacher Kathy knows her stuff! She has so much experience with all kinds of kids and she is a very helpful resource for parents. She goes out of her way to bring fun activities to the kids and to make sure they are doing something different and educational every day!!
My daughter, who is entering kindergarten next month, had this to say, "My old school had lots of nice people and it had something that I liked. It was the big loft that you got to read books in!"
