Average Food & Fare...: And you shouldn't mind leaving an establishment stinking of an ashtray.
Tim Freed Karaoke at The Shack: Portland radio veteran Tim Freed (KGAR, KISN, KGW) does his karaoke show with 20,000 song titles and his kick ass sound system every Wednesday from 7:00pm to 11:00pm (all ages) and on the first Saturday of each month from 9:00pm to 2:00am (21 and over.) The Shack features Oregon lottery games (Keno, video poker), pool tables, darts, foos ball, tabletop shuffleboard, and a small video and pinball arcade. There are occasional live music shows.
Their burgers are excellent, and they also have a great Mexican menu. The drinks are done right and prices are reasonable. The bar staff has a low turnover so chances are if you go there regularly they'll get to know you and vise-versa.
A local after a couple weeks: The Shack is my "Cheers". After going there once a week for 2-3 weeks, they knew my name and pour my drink without asking.
The Shack does Karaoke on Wednesday, Free Hold'Em tournaments on Thursday, and usually has live music on Friday or Saturday.
The food is top notch; They cut their own steaks, keep their burger on ice, make their own salsa, and the list goes on. You must try the Philly Steak sandwich, or any of the great Mexican dishes.
The atmosphere is spectacular as well. It lives up to its name in motif in the bar area, but sit in the nonsmoking section for a nice, classy surprise.
Great place-- I love it.

I guess thats the risk you take entering a smoking environment. It should be the owner and owner only who should make the choice whether to allow smoking not the local, state, or fed authority. I can guarantee you he would stop it in a minute if he was loosing substantial buisness as a result of it. Thats what you call being a grown up and making your own choice and accepting the ramifications of those choices jackass.
With the new smoking laws, the shack no longer smells. To accommodate the smoking crowd, Phil's gone and built a really nice covered outdoor pavilion. This place will be HOPPING this summer-- extra covered capacity for rain or shine fun.
