We're Addicted: Our Favorite! Kathy, the new owner, is doing a wonderful job of providing a family/home atmosphere (& free wireless Internet).

When you go, ... mmm there's something for every mood of every day in every sort of weather ... Well ... let's start with the coffee!

I recommend the drip Longbottom coffee in the 12oz mug with a refill, or an Americano, ... i'm kind of out of the latte mood lately but my daughter gets a Chi Tea SOY latte that is incredible!

or a mmm Tarro Bubble Tea with rainbow jellies (like ice cream), or a green apple bubble tea with mango jellies, or a strawberry bubble tea with a real bannana dropped in (I like my bubble teas blended),,,

OR ... now this you have to ask for ... Kathy usually has some loose leaf teas and elegant Korean tea cups -- an excellent experience. Ok and for the take-and-run tea drinkers, she has Mighty Leaf tea -- also very nice.

If you want to buy me a gift, or maybe you don't know me but you know a photograph collector (aka parents, grandparents), right now my favorite gift option at Coffee Avenue is a leather bound book that has heavy pages and an adhesive area to hold in the photos. They are small ... mmm probably ranging from 5x7 to the little small school pic size and they seem to average about 10 pics. As easy as it is to get duplicate photos these days ... they make a beautiful little portfolio ... it seems like just yesterday a body would never consider sticking a photo to anything for fear of damaging it ... but ... now ... oh wait .... this is suppose to be a coffee shop review ... mmm where was i ..

Oh these particular books sit above the fireplace ... now granted, it's only a gas fireplace but it's been on every cold morning and it's a beautiful and very cozy fireplace to sit by -- especially sinking down into the nice soft big chairs ... it's easy to start to drag your feet about moving on with the day ... like being home in your living room ... except you don't have to vacuum and you don't have to do the dishes ....

Kathy recently made upgrades to the wireless (free) Internet equipment which seems to have solved certain connection issues and it may be just my imagination ... but I think the speed improved too.

Oh? you don't think I write like an Oregonian? Well, ok ... I'm from Texas and I've been up here visiting my daughter for a few months ... and get this ... I now completely understand why most "real" people up here will do most anything possible to avoid that "___ bucks place". I don't know how to break it to the people back home that that "___ bucks place" is only a wanna-be coffee shop ... that they've only partly got it right ... and mostly wrong ... and in general they seem to be the laughingstock of the party.

Coffee shop owners like Kathy and the people who hang out in Coffee Avenue have really made my time away from home endurable.

Best experience in the Portland area: Customer service is everything and Coffee Avenue has it. This family owned business is a great alternative to the corporate machine that other coffee shops have come to be known for. Sit and visit, read, and soon they will have wireness internet access. They also have the largest selection of low-fat flavors for the calorie minded individual. A must try!
