I have lived in McMinnville for about 9 years now. As a kid I loved going to Alf's, I always looked forward to not only Elvis or the food, but how nice the people are to their customers.
I went in today (Easter Sunday), and received the worst service ever. I didn't get greeted as I walked through the doors nor when I was waiting to be serviced. May I add we were the only ones in line.
After about 5 min. of waiting to have our order taken we finally got help. Hoping we would see a smile and be greeted we got nothing but disappointment. The lady who took the order made me feel like I should be in Kindergarden all over again. She was rude, and had no customer service skills what so ever.
When we got our food she didn't even know who the food went to and didn't say a word, just put the food down and walked away. About 10 min. later still smelling ammonia from the floors being mopped and the tables being cleaned off, a family walked in asking if they were closing and if they didn't mind making some burgers. The not so nice lady replied saying we don't have a closing time, we just close when its not busy. So instead of helping them and making a few extra dollars in the down economy she had the nerve to basically kick them out.
On top of all of this she was pacing back and forth behind the counter as if trying to rush us out. I have never felt so disrespected in my life. I don't think, well I know, I wont be coming back anytime soon.
Alf's Ice Cream & Burger's: Alf's has THE VERY BEST Milk shakes EVER! Their burger's are good and service is good as well.
Alf's is great!: I recently moved to the McMinnville area, and was intensely curious about the little 1950's looking diner in the middle of town. My husband and I decided to dine there on our way home from work one cold Friday night, after reading rave reviews about the place. We were not disappointed. The food was incredibly delicious! How many restaurants do you know that will serve you a giant pile of tater tots?
The seating is pretty tight, but the service was very nice and speedy enough that we didn't feel like we were sitting there for too long. The ice cream looked awesome, though by the time we were done with our burgers, we were too stuffed to try any!
The atmosphere is sort of TGI Friday's on a very small scale - the place is filled with monkey and Elvis decor. I assume this is because they have an actual monkey named Elvis who lives in a large "monkey room" (no, it's not a cage...it's a whole room) adjacent to the restaurant. Kids can watch Elvis swinging around while they snarf bananas.
I definitely recommend Alf's! It's a fun and delicious place to dine!
