We saw this place on T.V. It looked interesting. We were not happy with the service or the atmosphere. No air conditioning. The beer on tap was warm. Staff didn't seem to care if we were satisfied or not. Food was average at best. We will not go back.
Horrible Food ... Horrible Service. I am just speechless to how this restaurant was ever rated 5 stars? We actually saw this place on TV as a place to try for the habanero fritters... looked like a cool atmosphere and what we experienced was far from what was seen. We are regulars to Portland's restaurant scene and this place is far from anything we've ever experienced (not in a good way). The food was just disgusting, the service was interesting, the floors also disgusting. I am not use to writing such a bad review and have just never been so disappointed about all the hype. If you try this place out I recommend calling ahead to see if they have got this place back on track.
What's happened to this place?? It's been a few year since I've eaten there, sure, but I remember a different place. The jambalaya used to be wonderful, presented with dots of hot sauce around the rim of the plate to add as needed, lots of flavor and coconut rice. Today I found mushrooms, lots of them, in my jambalaya - sort of a strogonoff version of cajun? It didn't work. The accompanying square of springy, strangely orange, corn bread was sweet when it should have been savory. The drinks were OK, the kalua pork was OK, but I'm in no hurry whatsoever to go back. The spirit has gone out of the place. Service was civil.
