| About: | Don your dancing shoes and take a trip back to when big bands ruled the music scene. Red velvet curtains, rich wood grains, and dancers of all ages contribute to the unique atmosphere. Dance to such favorites as swing, salsa, ballroom and tango, usually with at least one live band a week gracing the stage. Attire among the more serious dancers tends to be fairly formal, but dress as you like. Lessons are available during the hour before the main dance. |

Finally, Room to Shoot Pool: The thing I like most about this place is that there's plenty of room to shoot. So many bars/poolhalls try to squeeze too many tables into too little space. The result is no-place to sit without being in the way and the constant "I beg your pardon but I'm gonna need to shoot right through you here". Not so at BossaNova. The quality of their tables is great downstairs...with both 8 and 9 foot tables with top quality surface. Upstairs is a little less accommodating so show up early on the busy nights. Oh, and somebody buy these folks a ball cleaner...I've found some pretty big chunks of gunk stuck to those things from time to time.
The food here kicks butt. Don't expect a burger and fries, we're talking more like shrimp alfredo and spring mix salad. The happy hour menu makes fine dining plus good pool extremely affordable till 8pm...much later than most. The beer selection is spotty at best...it's clear that they're going for the craft-brew appeal, but the Centenial IPA is waaaaay over hopped, and there's no sense sporting a creme ale if you don't have a passable amber.
League matches happen Monday through Wednesday evenings, but don't use all the tables. If you're looking to join a team this is the best place in town to play from...just start hanging out M-W and before you know it a team will pick you up.
The service here is admittedly mixed. They're still settling in, finding the folks who will last. Everyone wants to be helpful, but some are naturally better than others.
Key Features: DJ music several nights a week and semi-regular live music, Photo Booth!, 10 Great Pool Tables, most with Simoniz green, inexpensive healthy food, a mix of seating opportunities, two dart boards, full bar and a nicely mixed crowd...if a bit heavy on the scooter patrol. Take public transit or a cab if you can...parking in this neighborhood is sketchy.
