About:This elegant, richly decorated restaurant is full of promise when it comes to culinary expertise. Chef Daniel Mondok supervises the execution of some contemporary delights with a hint of exotic Italian flavor in this deep, wood colored setting. A memorable evening could begin at the posh wine bar, with a creative, fruity cocktail accompanied by Westcott Bay Mussels and chorizos soaked in tomato. Head on to the soup of the day, or a First Plate of Duck Confit Salad, followed by a delicious Grilled Loin of Cattail Creek Farms Lamb. Save room for the Triple Chocolate Pate, or an array of home-made sorbets and sticky, finger-licking ice-creams, cleverly crafted to satisfy the most discerning sweet tooth. Martinis are available at USD1 on Mondays, with the purchase of an appetizer from the bar menu, which, by the way, is reduced to half the price on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The huge Barnwood table is well suited to host a dinner party of 12 or more all through the week. Come, eat and enjoy! The timings are Monday to Friday from 3pm and Saturday and Sunday from 5.30 onwards.

    I found this restaurant to be one of the best. We had a late reservation (9 PM) on a tuesday evening. There were only four other diners in the place enjoying an after dinner drink. Our friends arrived shortly after nine. The four of us were seated and selected wine before ordering. We were not made to feel rushed or hurried. From apps to dessert, the food was excellent.

    Neil the bartender is quite knowledgable and a true professional. He made the experience even better.

    I look forward to returning to Carlyle in Portland. Hopefully it will be on the weekend and a little earlier.

    For those who appreciate a creative dinning experience, you will not be disappointed.
