| About: | Bluehour means different things to different people. In French literature it describes any time of day "of heightened emotion." In Portland it has come to mean "a great place to dine." As the premier modern restaurant in the Pearl District, Bluehour opened its doors in 2000, with what Gourmet Magazine describes as, "the most sophisticated, contemporary food in town." Guests choose between the elegant dining room or the casual cafe and bar. Simple, delicious and classic describes the Mediterranean cuisine chef Kenny Giambalvo creates in the Bluehour kitchen each night. The menu is printed daily, but Bluehour standards remain, like the pillowy potato gnocchi with black truffle and the perfectly seared, bacon wrapped sea scallops. Our cheese cart is among the finest on the West Coast, featuring regional and international artisan cheeses. Begin or end each week with Brunch on Sundays, starting at 10:00am. And as always, treat yourself to happy hour 4:30pm -6:30pm every day. |

Poor customer service: my husband made reservations for Valentines Day. On the morning of, he was quite sick and I called to move our reservation and $50 deposit (which they required to take the reservation) out to another night. They refused. We are out the $50. I am certain this restaurant was able to fill our slot, so this policy seems both mercenary and shortsighted. When my husband is better, we will find another restaurant to spend our money, as there are many fine ones in Portland to choose some. Bluehour is ahead $50 but has lost the potential of repeat customers (and we do like to eat out) and positive word of mouth. Particularly silly in this economy.
This is a great place! The food is excellent and the docor is trendy. Make sure to try the tableside cheese sampler, but stay away from the strong smelling ones. (Funny story!) Their steak is great! Been here at least a 1/2 dozen times in the past few months and every time it has been a 10!
I would never eat at this restaurant as long as they serve "foie gras". This is the most cruel abusive way to get a big liver to eat! If you do not know what I mean go to utube and watch what they do to the poor birds.

Thanks for letting us know. I am vegetarian but I would definitely not go to a restaurant that served 'foie gras' to meat eaters.
