Now known as Sushi Ichiban, this is one of my favorite places to eat in Portland. I live about an hour away, but I've been known to make the drive just to eat here. Even my parents like it too! It's true we're sushi newbies: my dad sometimes buys Safeway or Winco sushi...(ick), but if you go to Sushi Ichiban any time on Saturday or for dinner Wednesday, they're nearly as cheap and so, so, SO much better! I love the calamari, tuna, fried oysters and more! The desserts are good too! Micheal and Jade (reviews below) you guys are right on!
Takahashi on Broadway has changed it's name to Ichiban due to sale of other business interests. This location is still the same great food, ambiance and prices but different name. I love it and frequent it.
This place is definitely not for the sushi-snob, or bigotted elitist yuppies (please stay away), but definitely a must frequent place for working class and alternative crowds. Good food, low prices, friendly staff, (unless you're the aforementioned condescending types).
My all-time favorite sushi resturant ever! and i'm a "sushi snob" :) Great pricing, perfect for newbies who just want to try a little of this and a little of that. Special nights on saturday and wendsdays after 5pm. Fun staff, funky atmosphere, sushi train makes for interactive dining, and the fried calamari sushi is to die for!
