| About: | About 25 years old, Poor Richard's Restaurant offers the most value for your money when you order from the two-for-one menu. Steaks, chicken and fish are always fresh and is bought from the local markets. All meals include soup, salad or coleslaw, garlic bread, potatoes (fried or baked) and a soft-serve ice cream dessert. If you would rather not do the two-for-one choice, try one of the nightly specials or the steak kebab. |

The word "poor" in the name says it all. It looks fairly nice inside. There are cosy fireplaces etc, but the food is terrible, and the service typical Portland inadequate.
Aesthetically, I felt the place needed some updating.
My dinner companion and I both had salads and agreed that they were quite good (it's pretty hard to mess up a salad, but still).
Even though it wasn't very full, it was a Thursday night, the service was just a bit slow. Overall, we thought it was not a bad experience.
A Portland tradition where I go on a regular basis: Very dependable service and good food. A clean restaurant that you can relax in. Specials every day are great. Don't miss the traditional Corned Beef & Cabbage on the days it is being served (really mild, great sauce) It's outstanding. Lot's of regulars have been coming there for years, I'm one of them. Whatever you order - it will be delicious. I am so glad that Poor Richard's continues to be a Portland landmark for great food and friendly service.
