Tabla is one of Portland's good things...: Tabla has become my Favorite Restaurant, in a town awash with fabulous fare. Simply put, their 3 course, small plate prix fixe menu allows you to match the food with your mood, the weather, the staffs recommendations, or to leverage romantic sharing. Any way you do it, your palate will be delighted. Tabla has the best duck confit in Portland, a house pasta with truffle butter which I dream about, and lovely salads and starters. They tend to excel with meats, but seafood has always been beautifully prepared. At $20, you will not find a better deal in town, and the 3 courses mean variety without busting your belt. Excellent.
Tabla Fabulous: There are tiemswhen you find a jewel in an unexpected place ... such is the case with Tabla. 28th and Burnside near the Laurelhurst theater, Tabla sits alittle out of the known food districts on 23rd Broadway, but it is well worth the trip. Food is inexpensive, portions are reasonable, and a few of the dishes are just to die for. Be sure to order the Raviolis, salt beets, Butternut Flan, and most importantly the pasta with truffle oil. You won't regret it.
