I have been to Tigard Transmission twice now. The first time was in 2005 when my '92 Explorer transmission went out. I chose them because the reviews I read said they were honest and cheap. They did a full rebuild for $1,300 which I thought was a great deal. They did it prompt and within the range they quoted.

20,000 miles later I had transmission problems. I took the car back to Tigard Transmissions and they "fixed it" for $150. One day later the problem came back. I took the car back again and they "fixed it" this time for free. 2 days later the problem came back. I took the car BACK to them and they said that the Torque converter went out and that was what the problem was. $550 for a new converter. Picked the "Fixed" car up and the overdrive did not work. Took it BACk AGAIN to Tigard Transmission and after a week of them basically doing nothing I dropped in to find out what was going on with my car. They told me that if I wanted it to run like it should I would need a whole new rebuild on my Transmission.

I was done with them and will never bring my business back. The owner, Wayne, does not have a clue how to provide customer service. He was unclear about what was going on with the car and overall did not seem to care. I took my car to Tigard Transmissions 4 times in one month and that’s exactly how long it took them to figure out what was wrong with it. My car is not new, it is not a hybrid, it is a 1992 Ford Explorer. This is not rocket science.

My first experience with this place was good but I feel like a rebuilt transmission on a non- daily driver should last longer than 20,000 miles.

I cannot recommend this place and will never bring my business back. BUYERS BEWARE.

My transmission broke down at Tigard on my way from Seattle to San Diego. I found Tigard Transmissons next to I5. It's unbelievable that the job's done in 4 hrs. They have over 160 already rebuilt units in stock and, voila, just R&R with a very reasonable price and I was back on my trip. Thank you guys, you're great and awesome !
