this was the most wonderful meal! the lady was so gracious and accomadated our two little children in the group of six of us. My son who has been to ethiopia and eaten at many ethiopian restaurants says this is the best he's ever had. We're going back this weekend. The "doro wat" and "green chicken" was just so yummy!
Yum!: Obviously a family-owned restaurant, the food is GREAT! I'm a vegetarian, but my carnivorous friends agree. I can't get back to Mudai enough. The lentils are always perfectly spiced, the injera ia always moist & never stale, even at the edges.
Service is better than at most ethiopian joints - ethiopian restaurants are for relaxing for hours; it;s usually not a good idea to go to one when you've got a show to catch in an hour. But here, they tend to let you set the pace.
The decor could be better, but the food is what keeps me going back.
Pretty good for Portland: It's hard to get decent Ethiopian grub in Portland- Mudai is one of the new comers up in the Rose Quarter/ MLK area.
Food is pretty good here- and they have Honey Wine. Queen of Sheba is good too. (For some reason Portland is challenged for good Ethiopian food).
