Richens at the Beach

Sorry, but this was the worst dining experience I have ever had.

We walked in, and were told we would be seated. Five minutes later she came back and told us we could seat ourselves.

We waited a while to order, and when the waitress came to take our order, she walked away while we were in the middle of ordering and returned some time later.

We got our food quickly, but it was easily the worst food I have ever eaten at a restaurant.

The chicken fried steak was unlike any I have ever tasted. It was hardly breaded and smelled, tasted and had the texture of pure hamburger.

The clam chowder tasted sweet, like they had used condensed milk. I was barely able to choke it down.

The green beans obviously came out of a can. I cook a lot, and know the difference between fresh, frozen and canned green beans, and this was obviously canned.

When I mentioned the chicken fried steak to the waitress, she said "Is that what you really think?". Very rude.

During our meal, the waitress never came back, not once, despite the fact that there was literally only one other person in the restaurant, and one person in the bar. I had to wait by the front door for a few minutes to ask for water refills and ketchup, at which point she tried to tell me there was already ketchup on the table. Obviously, there wasn't.

I also asked for more bread, and she told me that their personal baker had left for the day so they could not "bake anymore bread". While I was waiting for water I peeked in the kitchen and saw Safeway bread packages that were full of bread, that she did not offer when I asked for more.

On top of all, the menu was extremely over priced for the food offered. I would have rather eaten at Mo's, Muchas Gracias or even a Shari's.

Overall, price, service and quality of the food was not appealing. We were EXTREMELY dissatisfied with this restaurant.

It seems Lincoln City is running out of decent restaurants.

We stopped in after The Amazing Race "How Much Do You Really Know About Lincoln City?" http://coord.info/GC1NWNN Geocaching event. We used the color-by-numbers coupon from the event on our orders of Fish & Chips! We loved the homemade chips and the fish was very good. myTcute came back for more of the yummy clam chowder...some of the best we've had.

The staff are very friendly and the food arrived quickly and very hot. Prices are reasonable and the menu is quite extensive. Thanks for being a stop on "The Amazing Race". Doing so brought us in, and the good food will bring us back.

This place is awesome, great servers downstairs, great bartender upstairs & the owners are super nice also, Nick makes the best mashed potatoes & country fried steak! I stop in there everytime I visit the beach
