We love Aunt Ding's, always a terrific menu, super food (those fresh baked yeasty rolls are to die for!), fill-you-up portions, incredible dessert selection, friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere (no boistrous customers, no obnoxious rap music), you can see why so many people make this their favorite place to eat out. I know we sure do, even though we have to drive a ways to get there, it's always worth it (even writing this is making me hungry! ).
I stopped by while on a road trip in July 2008, for a late lunch. It was predictably uncrowded at that time (about 2:30 pm). The service was average to good, for a restaurant in this class, and the food choices were many. After querying the staff about ingredients of several choices, I learned the veggie burger and the salmon burger are both made in the kitchen from scratch, not pre-bought. My son liked the Veggie Burger quite a lot, and it tasted good to me too. It was a bit different than the standard frozen varieties, and was good. I choose the buffalo burger (actually "bison" I was informed). It was 'Excellent!' In fact it was so good, I ordered another to go, to take with me for later.
I drove off from that place, wishing I lived several hundred miles closer, so I could get the chance to try many of the other tempting menu choices. Next on the list to try: The salmon burger.
Much of the menu choices were fairly typical for a family restaurant, but the quality was better than average. Also the decor and cleanliness were better than average.
Also note: The place was very clean, and the decor was tasteful. It was a really nice place. I highly recommend you stop by if you have the chance. And if you eat meat, try the buffalo burger.
The only negative I noted, was the lack of any whole-wheat bun choice. That may change in time, as it was apparent that other patrons have also requested this choice. I think the response was something like: 'yes, we don't have that yet'... the key word there being "yet".
