My husband and I went to the coast for our anniversary and we had a wonderful time until we ate at the Apple Peddler. It was by far the worst experience. The service was horrible and the waitress could care less that we were even there. Food was tasteless and coffee smelled like the grinds from the day before were in the cup. The "biscuits and gravy" were actually muffins and gravy. But the worst part was yet to come when I had to keep pulling over the entire way home so my husband could vomit this nasty food out of his stomach. I only hope that everyone knows about this horrible place so that no one else has to experience this.
I didn't realize just how much someone could destroy, yes, destroy a breakfast!
On a recent trip to Crescent City with my parents, we decided to head up the Oregon Coast and stopped at the Apple Peddler in Brookings for breakfast, which was a huge mistake.
When we arrived, we were greeted and seated very quickly. However, we waited about 10 minutes for anyone to come over to our table with water we requested when we were seated, then about 10 more for our order to actually be taken. Everyone else that came in got to sit next to the windows and seemed to be getting their food before us. About 25 minutes later our food came out...25 minutes to cook 3 omelets!
I ordered a ham & mushroom omelet, I actually had crunchy mushroom and the ham was blackened and it was cold. Instead of the pancake or hash browns and toast, I opted for the biscuits & gravy. The biscuits couldn't even be cut with a knife they were hockey pucks.
My dad ordered the combo omelet; he too had crunchy things in it. He opted for the hash browns and toast, the hash browns appeared to be drowning in butter, while the toast had about a 1/4 inch of butter just smeared all over, not melting.
My mom opted for the sausage and cheese omelet, she ended up with more cheese than a person should consume and crunchy things that were supposedly sausage. She also opted for the biscuits & gravy, we now had a matching set of hockey pucks. But I do have to say, the hot chocolate that came from the machine was good!
Next time I think I will stick with Denny's, at least there I know what to expect!
