Discovered this restaurant on a recommendation from a local business as we were sightseeing and were wonderfully surprised at the quality of the food! Our family of four first had lunch there and found the crab pizza, crab quesidilla and crab melt sandwich were unbelievably good. We had a fun waiter by the name of Jason who gave us great service and some good recommendations from the menu. We came back the next night for dinner and the seafood lasagne was terrific. Jason also recommended a steak that was really tasty and cooked to perfection. We were entertained by the sounds of a local band, as well. Great atmosphere in the warm, cozy dining room. We now have a new favorite place to go when we visit the Oregon coast and we highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.

Our family had lunch at this restaurant in March of 08. There was only two other tables being served at the time and we were a party of 6 adults and two children under 10. We were not warned in advance that there was a 18% gratuity on parties of 6 or more (another good reason not to bring your friends), also there was a 1% tax for the Yachats sewer system construction project (paid for by us naive tourists). This would all be overlooked had not the service and food had not been so horrible.

After waiting for our order, we saw that plates were being placed under a warming tray and not being served to us. Asking the waitress about our food there, she replied that she "has to wait for the bell to ring before serving us" All the while the owner who was sitting at a booth near us was on her laptop peaking over but not doing anything to assist in our dining there. Once served, the food was sub-standard. The mystery-meat crab cake with the terrible dipping sauce tasted like mushy hash. The chicken-fried steak was burnt on the bottom and was missing it's fries which was suppose to come with it. The esspresso machine was broken and the waitress didn't inform us until after food was served and we asked where the latte was.

Still holding hope to end the meal well, and waiting still for one of the entrees, we made the best of things until we got the bill. When we entered the restaurant, the waitress asked us if we wanted to split the checks and she told us it was no big deal to do so. We said no, but still she divided all our orders up. To our amazement, she added the extra tax and the 18% gratuity to each. When we asked about these items she explained about the city tax (which two of our party who are locals, never heard of) and the gratuity she explained was printed on the menu.

Not wanting to pay the full gratuity because the service and food was so bad, we gave only a portion of the gratuity and the waitress brought back our full payment stating to us that we don't have to pay the full amount but that it said the 18% was expected. We were shocked that she did this since we thought that we were telling her we didn't think she deserved the full gratuity.

We left the waitress what we originally gave her and then went over to the owner who was seated near by and told her we would not be back. She was completely unconcerned and didn't even bother to ask us what was wrong or how things could be made right. She never got up out from behind her laptop even after another of our party expressed the same feelings. The impression she left us was, "oh, well, you are just passing through anyway" what she doesn't know is that some of us are not tourists, but locals ourselves and we will be telling everyone not to go to this restaurant.
