Kent Post Office/Gowe St: I have been there several times, and even though there are 4 or more people working only one lady waits on customers. If you go in at 9:00am there is a older gentlemen who wonders around watering his plant, arranging his pens, putting out the sign thats says stand behind this sign. It doesn't matter how long the line gets he won't go to his window and help anyone. Everyone gets upset, he is rude and this is poor customer relationship. He could refill the envelopes and water his plant when there are not people in line. This is why there is so much waste in our goverment. People like this are able to keep their jobs no matter what they do or how rude they are. It seems that something should be done. How would he like it to be treated like this.

i went here a few times since i moved here 2 years ago. I always print my own labels from my computers so i only need to give them the packages and go. One day, i gave the older gentlemen at this office a package with label i created the night before. He gave it back to me and he told me that he only accept labels create the same day. i told him that i have done this many times but he refused to get the package from me. i end up driving all the way to south center office to drop off my package because it was the only one that close at 6 pm. i never went back to this post office again even it is very close to where i live
I have gone there twice to drop off preprinted, labeled boxes. Other post offices (including the Kent East Hill office) will allow you to drop them off to the side and leave. No, not this guy! He upset me with his absolutely rude behaviour that I decided to ask for the Postmaster. He directed me to the East Hill office (off 104th and James). I went there and explained the situation to the Postmaster. He sympathized and told me that 1) the older gent was a former prison guard, which is why he was so "rigid" and "non-customer oriented", 2) he had seniority and that is why he had the window job...regardless of his attitude, and 3) because of the seniority, he couldn't be moved from the job and knew it...even though he had a long list of reprimands. While not representative of government workers (I hope), he helps to continue that stereotype of a non-caring goverment worker who knows they can do whatever they want and nothing can be done because they are "protected" in some way. Consequently, I have sworn never to go to that Post Office again except in a dire emergency...even though I work 3 blocks south of it. While I don't know his life and its story/history...he is a jerk and obviously the kind you drive out of your way to avoid in life.
I hate to say it and I rarely complain, but yes, I am always treated rudely at this post office. If I have the time, I go up to the one on James hill because they're efficient and friendly. I have to go tomorrow and I'm dreading it.
