One of the Best Real Mexican restaurants around!: Now I haven't tried every Mexican restaurant in the Seattle/Eastside area, but I've eaten at quite a few. I have also had my fare share of Mexican cuisine from as far away as Mexico to Northern/Southern California, Colorado, Tex-Mex, and more.

I dare say that *MOST* Mexican restaurants that people eat at are really a fusion of Mexican cuisine with local tastes/preferences. It is rare to find a restaurant that really makes fantastic, and close to authentic Mexican food.

Frida's is one of these rare finds. I dare you try their chicken mole and compare it to mole you may have had elsewhere. Likely you'll immediately notice it is stronger, less sweet, with some bitterness; more like what real mole is supposed to taste like.

The *ONLY* downside IMHO of Frida's is its location. It is smack in the middle of a strip-shopping center (like a grocery store or something nearby) so it feels like it's occupying the type of location you would expect an uninteresting restaurant chain to occupy (or even a fast food restaurant). That said, once you enter Frida's, the decor and atmosphere make up for the lackluster surroundings.

PS - They have a fantastic tequila selection, but be ready to open your wallet, and yes those prices are per-shot of tequila, not per bottle!

Good but dead: Food was unusual compared to what you see at most Mexican restaurants. What I had was okay. Pork was a bit overcooked. Also, the place was dead... on a Friday evening. Overall, I say its worth finding and trying.

Best mexican restaurant even better than in Mexico: Not your typical mexican food like Azteca. This is sophisticated, elegant Mexican food and can be made mild or hot. Only problem is the very long and elaborate menu. Love it and even my parents love it (who are retired in Mexico).
The food quality varies with the Chef.
