The midas touch burnt my pocket: The day after Costco installed four brand new tires [Michelin195/60R15 88 V] on our Volvo I took the car to midas for wheel alignment -- by this time the tires were driven for 21 miles.
Less than 9K miles later the cables were showing on both front tires. The last set of tires worked for 45K miles and even then no cables were showing.
I bought two replacement tires and took the car back to midas. A couple of hours later they told me they checked the car and reaffirmed wheel alignment and reported inability to make some adjustments.
I called the Volvo dealership and they gave me the name of an outfit they use for alignment work when they need it -- later I learned that Mercedes dealership also uses the same outfit. I took the car there. The new shop measured excessive wheel misalignment and aligned wheels.
When I went back to midas and share what I had learned, the manager had nothing to say and passed me to the their regional rep or manager. He made some insane excuses and went on vacation. Final response was "nothing". As far as they were concerned the case was resolved. For me a wheel alignment cost over $550. The bright side was that nothing happened to my family when they drove the car around. Conceivably the tires could have had a blow out.
Only a few days earlier I had seen the video about jiffy lube caught on tape in California and I suggest you look for it on the web -- I found midas to be no different.
