Surprisingly perfect!: My boyfriend and I acidentally stumbled on this little treasure on my birthday. He had initially planned on taking me to some other restaurant that turned out to be shut down so we were wandering around Wallingford and decided to try the Mandalay Cafe. What a find! Not too expensive and AMAZING food! We went on a Sunday evening and it wasn't too crowded. The decor is very romantic and we initially were going to sit inside. However, the restaurant doesn't have air conditioning (its one drawback!) and it got pretty stuffy so we decided to sit outside since it was a nice summer evening. I am a huge fan of duck and the duck here was the, honestly, the best I have ever had. It was so tender -- it literally melted in my mouth. REALLY. My boyfriend got the peanut shrimp which he loved. They also had guava juice which I, being from Hawaii, love. I would definitely hurry back to this place -- there are so many other dishes I want to try!
