About:For nearly 20 years this restaurant has served the foods of New Mexico in a casual atmosphere. Tempting dishes, reasonably priced, include the Garlic Custard appetizer, surrounded by a red chile and Montrachet sauce and served with blue tortilla chips. The Chile Relleno Tart is made with green chiles, mozzarella and Gruyere cheeses, baked in a blue corn pastry and served with soup and salad. A full bar turns out superb margaritas.

This is really authentic New Mexican food. Having lived in New Mexico for many years, it was our first experience at the Santa Fe Cafe in Seattle. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The lighting was soft but we could see our food. The Hatch chili was wonderful on our blue corn chicken enchiladas. If you are looking for true New Mexican food, this is the place. We ate on a Saturday night and the place was full. We didn't have to wait long for our food and the staff was friendly. We found the food to be delicious and highly recommend this place if you are wanting real New Mexican cuisine.

The best Southwestern food in Seattle: This place has Southwestern style food as good as any including probably Santa Fe, New Mexico! The staff is very professional and friendly. The restaurant is clean and modern, with just the right lighting to see what you are eating and who are eating with but not so much as too not have a nice relaxed atmosphere. It isn't cheap, but then you can spend a lot more in other restaurants and still not eat food as good as this. They make everything from scratch. Their margaritas are fresh squeezed and in my opinion, maybe the best ones in Seattle. The Carne Adobada may be their most popular dish, very spicy without the indigestion that goes with many spicy foods. Their green chili dishes are excellent. The stacked enchiladas are made with blue corn tortillas and their chicken enchiladas are the best I have ever had. You have to try this place at least once. Children's menu selections. No smoking. AMEX, Visa and MC accepted.

BAD EXPERIENCE: PLEASE someone change the rating...read the reviews and go there...it is a JOKE. My girlfriend and I went last night, we live 2 blocks away and the only reason I have never been is that ever time I walk/drive by it is empty...now we know why. We showed up around 8:30pm last night (7/11/06). The place was empty, we were seated and a few mins later we were brought water. It was 6-7 mins before the waitress even came over for a drink order, and that was from my "louder than whisper" comment wondering why we had not been asked about drinks. We ordered two margaritas; they were OK...although it took 7 mins to receive the drinks. We then ordered chip and salsa...it took at least 10 min to get the chips...10 mins to put some chips on a plate and salsa in a bowl. We ate one chip and sent them back...they tasted like they were from a bag and the salsa was from a can...turns out that the chips are in fact from a bag and although the salsa is 'homemade" it was runny and bland. We ordered dinner...I ordered a Chile Relleno Tart...it was outstanding...but $15.50 for a glorified Quiche...with a small salad and some bad Tortilla Soup...my girlfriend had some sort of burrito...BLAND and the meat was dry, I have had better burrito’s from 7-11. OK, now about the service....there were 5 tables of customers, so maybe 12 people eating and 4 waitresses and a bartender...Our waitress was the SLOWEST waitress I have EVER had...slow and no personality...we both waited tables when we were younger and we eat out at least 3-4 night a week. It was a bad experience all around....The total before tip was $55.00...a complete waste of money...PLEASE DO NOT GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
