| About: | The moment you step into the Metropolitan Grill, you know you have entered a classic steakhouse. Guests enter through tall mahogany doors to be greeted by tuxedo clad Maitre D's. Cuts of beef are showcased in a glass display in the front entryway. Framed photographs of celebrities, sports heroes and local politicians, all frequent visitors to The Met, line the walls. At the Metropolitan Grill, the focus is on the Prime beef, American and Japanese Wagyu. Steaks are seared over the high heat of the "Iron Wood of the World," imported mesquite charcoal, ensuring the most tender, juicy steaks available. Metropolitan Grill Chefs personally select each cut that is served to guests. The Metropolitan Grill's award-winning wine list showcases the definitive steakhouse selection of premium West Coast red wines, with special emphasis on Cabernets, Merlots and Meritage. |

this was my second visit to the metropolitan grill...and unfortunately it was subpar. the food was markedly different than my first visit. there was four of us(3 adults, 1 child). i ordered the ribeye(no bone)and i could swear i was given a sirloin steak. i had to ask three different time what type of steak i ordered because it just didn't seem like the right cut. there was absolutely no marbling in the meat. it was dry and prepared well past the "medium rare" i requested. my parents ordered the chateaubriand for two. again, pretty basic. the gentleman that came to "prepare" their plate was not the friendliest of characters although he was quite friendly with another table...personal issues...probably. one good note though...our waiter provided excellent service. i've had steaks all over and don't mind the pricey bill but at least make it worth my $$$$$.
If you know beef, this is the place to go. Hands down the best steak house around.
If you think that steak should be well done or medium well, you are wasting your money. They do not sear the steak and they know that a steak ordered rare is not served cold and that medium rare steaks are bloody (I know that this should be unsaid, but sadly most places on the west coast don't understand such things -- and even ordering them "warm and bloody" doesn't help them understand).
I have been to Metropolitan grill several times. Ambience, warm service, grreat food - It has it all. I would really recommend that you should give them a try. I bet you wont be dissapointed
