The food is awesome! Small but quaint restaurant, conveniently located in a lively Capital Hill area.

MMM, Fast, Cheap!: Machiavelli is really good food, made really fast for a good price. I highly recommend it.

Lives up to it's name: I am pretty sure that if Machiavelli were to write a business plan about how to successfully win over the Italian food eating public (as opposed to the conduct of princes) this restaurant would be one of his models.

Machiavelli is probably one of the best Italian restaurants that I have ever had the pleasure of dining at. I always get the spaghetti bolognese and have yet to be disappointed despite many trips. Machiavelli does all of their dishes well, my friends and I have been to this restaurant several times and they, being more adventurous than myself have tried other dishes and we have yet to have a complaint. Naturally this Italian restaurant has a very healthy selection of wines and there is a downstairs bar that stocks a solid variety of other spirits. My one complaint regarding food is that the restaurant no longer serves the gewurztraminer as part of the wine list.

In addition to fabulous food, the restaurant has a varied selection of seating possibilities. Those that would just like to grab something quick or small parties can chose to sit at the bar downstairs or the small bar tables at the entrance to Machiavelli's. If you would prefer a romantic environment or have a larger party the upstairs part of the restaurant offers seating arrangements that can accomodate both. The upstairs seating also has romantic mood lighting wiht small votive candles at each table and windows that open out to the street for people watching.

The wait staff is professional and discreet and the restaurant provides a solid value for dinner at roughly $10 for a pasta plate. Overall, an excellent place to grab dinner and other than the fact that there is usually a wait at dinner time, and a distinct lack of convenient parking there are no drawbacks to this wonderful restaurant.
