Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub is one of Seattle's favorite hideaways. Situated in Post Alley above the historic Pike Place Market, Kells is a fine way to round up a day's sightseeing or browsing at the market. The pub is always alive with folks cooling off after a day's work. The restaurant will be sure to remind you of the Old Country with its warm, cozy atmosphere and traditional surroundings. There's also a patio outside that's a great place to feel the breeze from the Sound and the buzz of the marketplace. We also have a grand celebration every St. Patrick's Day. And great live music !!
I've lived in Seattle for 25 years and have never complained about restaurants before. But here you go... I've gone to the Kell's many times. After all, it's supposed to be a permier Irish Pub and Restaurant. Over the last couple of years the quality of food and service has disintegrated! My wife and I were enjoying the cheese festival at the Pike market and decided to have lunch at the Kell's. Terrible food would be a compliment. I'm not one to complain unless I can suggest improvement but the owner through me out before I had a chance to make suggestions. What's up with that! She told me not to come back, which for me is easy since I'm know several good Irish Pubs in the area. So, for cruisers, tourists, visitors and locals take care in what you order. Of course had bad can it get if you just get a beer?
Did someone say this was a dive bar? Didn't seem like it to me. Good beer selection. Live music in the evenings. One selling point for me was that it is located in Post Alley with outdoor seating. When it's warm enough I like to sit outside and have a couple of pints and watch people go by.
It was a good place to have gone: I went in just as they opened one morning to come out of a on coming rain. I had their clam chowder with Irish soda bread and a glass of port. I wasn't very hungry when I ordered, but the good Irish music and warm people were great. So I stayed awhile that day.
