About:Whether for the inexpensive lunch buffet or for the romantic back room, numerous customers remain loyal to this cheery little restaurant. The lunch buffet features curries, vegetables, pakoras, rice and naan. Dinner features generous portions and spiciness to order. The Butter Chicken is even richer than its name and the special Naan with Chicken and Almonds is a meal by itself. The front is fairly plain, but the back room features cushioned benches, charming decorations and large tables. Reserve a table or two for parties of six or more. Larger groups can rent the entire room.

    A Nice Surprise on a Whim: The Househusband and teens were in the U District and stopped at Tandoor on a whim to order take-out dinner to bring home to me. Although it was our first dinner from this restaurant, we were very impressed. They were seated at a table to peruse the menu comfortably and await the order. The waitstaff was pleasant and helpful in making suggestions. Each of us got a different entrée—chicken vindaloo, chicken jalfrazie, lamb korma and mutter paneer, a vegetarian dish. They were each served over a bed of fragrant jasmine rice and had their own distinct flavor. Tandoor has a large neighborhood delivery area, though we are out of it, and their restaurant table service was exemplary. They have a large buffet also available for lunch. Next time we’ll add a few of their appetizers to our order since they looked delicious.
