A dumpster: First off, I've eaten countless Persian dishes at Iranian restaurants in every city I've lived, including LA, Vancouver, Toronto, Chicago and Seattle. My wife is also Persian, so between the two of us, we know a bit about the fare.
A kabab barg should be tender sirloin, and not tough shoe leather. And the meat literally stank. As in, "old". I couldn't eat it.
When we complained to our too-busy young server not entirely familiar with the fare, she told the manager. No offer for a refund or substituion was made.
Atmosphere-wise, the lighting fluctuated from dark to very dark.
Avoid.
Weevils and rocks in rice: Had this experience twice. Being a vegetarian there are only certain things I can order at a restaurant. I usually get their saffron rice and a plate of hummous. The first time I almost broke my tooth on a rock that was in my rice. When I complained to the waitress she "dont worry, it happens sometimes". When we asked to speak to the manager he said he was busy and wouldn't even come to out table to address our concerns. Our bill also included a $10/person cover charge that was not mentioned upon our arrival. I swore I would never go back, however I finally did because some friends wanted to meet me there. This time also, I had a couple small rocks in my rice as well as those little weevil larvae worms that you find in old grain products. Usually the hummous is tolerable, however this time it was totally sub-par. It was gray and tasted burned (how you burn hummous I have no idea). I absolutely will not be back again.
HOOKAHS AT KOLBEH: Don't get me wrong, the food is great. The hookahs however was a different story. We were charged $25.00 FOR ONE HOOKAH. The hookah was taped all around, we asked for mango, and they only had the "house blend". Either, we were ripped off, which is very sleezy on their part, or it's just a rip off to everyone.
