About:Tutta Bella is the first restaurant in the Northwest to achieve certification from the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, verifying that their pizza meets the strict specifications of authentic Neopolitan pizza. Favorites include Salerno salad, the prosciutto and arugula or lasagna pizzas, and tiramisu or cannoli for dessert. Suitable for families, each location has its own ambiance. The original Columbia City location is a small, neighborhood restaurant with light wood tables and a loft for larger parties. The Stone Way location is four times the size, but so popular it's still sometimes hard to get a table. Beer, wine, takeout available.

My favorite pizza restaurant- I have eaten at the Columbia City location 10+ times, and a few times in Wallingford. Service, atmosphere & food are all great. We usually split a pizza (or sometimes 2) and a salad between the two of us. If Dominos is your favorite pizza, then you might not love TB, but for thin crust, light & tasty lovers, you will not be disappointed. One time they accidently gave our pizza to the wrong table- they comped our pizza and a dessert without us even asking. I bring friends from out of town here to show them a good time. You may have to wait awhile if your party has more than 4.

I know pizza, and this is awful pizza: I have been a pizza afficianado for over twenty years. I have taken the NYC subway for an hour to get a great slice from a pizza place on Bleeker Street. I have travelled to the North End of Boston for a slice. Seattle is not a great place for pizza. I was hopeful that Tutta Bella could become another destination. It was a horrible dissapoointment. The place looks good and has the right touches--particularly a wood burning oven. I have also been making my open pizzas with pizza stones for many years, and the best pizzas can be made in a wood burning or coal burning oven. Well, I was a bit taken back when the cook with the paddle would not let the pizza sit on the masonry floor of the oven to develop a crust. I was also surprised that the pizza arrived 3 minutes after I ordered it. When I picked up the pizza, it failed the first test because the crust would not stay rigid. Instead, the slice flopped and the topping slid off the slice. The crust had no crust---it was like wonder bread. Upon tasting, the dough was limp, not even as good as a store bought or chain store pizza. A great pizza must have a great crust and crumb. This was just a limp, semi-cooked mass. The topping was likewise undercooked. It is really too bad, but it was a total waste of money. The pizza ended up in the trash.

Yeah but have you ever had pizza in Naples? This isn't New York style Pizza. What are you a frat boy?

My experience is that people just like different styles of pizza--simple as that. If you come into Tutta Bella expecting a New York slice (or a Chicago deep-dish, or heck, Domino's) you are not going to be impressed by a lovely, authentic Naples-style pizza like those served at TB. So don't go there--the rest of us will keep devouring and loving it and maybe have to wait 5 minutes less for a table.
