Claim Jumper in Tukwila, WA never disappoints me when I have gatherings there once or twice a year. The welcoming atmosphere includes a small apple and a treat for those waiting for other guests to arrive. Our waiter was quick to give us service even though he knew we might have to wait another 20 minutes. What impressed me also was you could make a side salad of the nutritious garnishes they had on each plate. We did not feel rushed to end our birthday celebration. My young quests ate all of their generous portions including the apple provided with no complain. The adults took half of their dinners home with them. Our bill came to just under $100 and I know I could not buy and make the dinner choices for that amount intended to satisfy eight people.
This past Wednesday was the first time I had patroned at this Claim Jumper since moving here to Washington. I have been to the resteraunt's before when visiting family, but this was my best experience yet. The wait was non-exsistent and the service was attentive and delightfull. Our waitress Christine was so nice and sweet she was wonderfull to be served by.
The food was phenomenal. Best I'd had at a Claim Jumper to date. I had the asian fruit starter salad with a bowl of french onion soup for dinner. Excellent. The hamburger my Mother had looked delicious as well, and she loved it. It was the widowmaker I think. It was so big she couldn't eat the whole thing, and she did try.
So overall I say 5 stars and we will most definitely returning!
Good food and service: Overall: The food is very tasty here and of substantial portions.
There are no waiting time for us to sit five people. We decided to take an appetizer each - I had the house salad with no dressing, finally a place that does a decent sized salad, one which is not overloaded with protein! The others had a variety of things, the nacho platter was large enough to feed two greedy people. All the starters were great!
On ordering our waiter told us that the rib eye steak would take 26 minutes, he wasn't far off, it took 29 minutes. The entrees arrived as I was shovelling the last fork of nacho chips in my mouth. I had the spicy jambalaya again, it is just such a nice dish, I have to have it all the time. Oh well, maybe next time I will try something different?
For dessert, the small bite sized ones are "normal standard" european sized desserts and good for the small eater. I had the Schoon Sundae, it consisted of a huge wine glass with fudge sauce smeared thickly and frozen on the inside, in the glass was a huge ball of overly sweet vanilla ice cream, topped with about 6-7 tablespoons of REAL whipped cream (not the aerosol variety), flaked almonds and more sauce. I ate the almonds, but had to scoop the cream off (not a big cream fan), I ate as much of the ice cream as I could - not because I was full, but because it was too sweet for me, however, I did finish scraping all the delicious fudge sauce from the glass.
This place is good for excellent food, however I have yet to find a really nice dessert - I will try something else next time :P~~~. The service was also great!
