User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI have lived in Des Moines for about 10 years and have never been disappointed by B&E. And I am often surprised.
First, They don't just sell meat, but terrific seafood as well. They almost always have 2 or more Salmon fillets on hand. Their smoked salmon is the best I've ever had.
They have an excellent selection of pre-mariniated meats, all of which are tasty. A huge selection of steaks, always well trimmed and flavorful. Their smoked chicken is to die for.
They have a big selection of saugaes, smoked, cooked and freash. I've never had a bad one and I think I have tried them all.
Lastly, they have the most outstanding jerkey I've ever had. It's made on the premises, well smoked and not overly salty. My boys love it. They have three flavors of beef and carry buffalo (Bison) and turkey jerkey too.
They have a lot of younger guys working there, but the all know their meat and have great customer service skills. I've never met anyone who is rude. Their prices are competitive with other upscale places like Larry's or Metropolitian Market. Safeway and Fred Meyer's may be cheaper, but the difference is worth it for the quality.
You cannot lose here. Enjoy.
