I am so happy with my experience working with Whatcom Sound, they were amazing! They had it down to the very last detail, and I mean it. They even brought some of their concert gear so that my brother could play his guitar during the ceremony, even though it wasn't in the contract. Everything was clear and strait forward, we got everything we needed, and then some. Absolutely worth every penny : )
How do I reply to such a comment? Let me start by telling you I am owner of Whatcom Sound, Paxton Rembert—(please contact me at 360-303-0888, direct line) Let me tell you a few details that were left out of the review by “Rip off” Aka Eric & Lindsay wedding which was on 8/2/08 at Semiahmoo. First we always have signed contracts with retainers—I will show anybody the signature by Lindsay dated 2/27/08 with the retainer amount of $525. Secondly the song list was played while people were being seated as instructed by the bride---The bridal party may have been in the back preparing to come out to the ceremony and may have not heard it—or maybe they were doing other things besides listening to music? After spending hours getting the large list of there music –why would we not play it???? It makes our job easier!!!
Let me tell you about the “HOMEMADE DVD” First I can tell you that our company provided the projector and screen---Nothing else—Nothing else was asked or charged for to play their HOMEMADE DVD. We did not even get the DVD until we were on site to provide the music for the ceremony and the party. I have no idea on what format it was created on and by whom. Oh the audio part, they forgot to mention that the wedding coordinator they hired told us to set the video screen and projector at the other side of the tent, over 150ft away from the sound system, she also told us to play music that would be suitable, during the DVD. Oh ya nobody told us there was audio on the dvd!!!!! If we had been able to put the screen up were we suggested near the sound system, we would have been happy to play the audio!! Why wouldn’t we?
On the 18yr old Dj, they forgot to mention that we had 2 Dj’s there. The other Dj that was there was in his 30’s and has many years of experience, but I didn’t charge for that either, so if I had “spread myself to thin” why did we have 2 Dj’s at their event???? We have 8 Dj’s who we can send out to events on each day, and 14 complete sound systems for back up.
Let me tell ya about the good part!!! What he didn’t tell ya was they went for 2 hours of overtime!!!!! Wow it was so bad—they only went 2 hours longer!!! Go figure—oh and then my Dj gave them a 50% discount on the overtime!!! Now here is the best part, Semiahmoo security was called because some guests were physically threatening my dj’s because of the problems with their DVD. I let my dj’s decide if they wanted to stay, I think they had every right to leave after being threatened, but they chose to stay and had a great party!!
I guess 2 extra hours of dancing and partying past the contract end time—was worth a full refund???? I don’t understand—DO YOU? Please call if you have any questions.

2 hours extra time---Gosh that must have been horrible!!!! Also he forgot to mention--that he asked for refunds from other vendors---
Hello All,
I am not one to write to this type of forum but I feel strongly enought to share my experience with Whatcom Sound. Where to start... DONT HIRE THEM!
The first thing that should have tipped me off was the fact that the company wanted money up front with no sort of contract... correct me if I am wrong but usually you will give the company money after or during the contract has been signed. Not in this case, they refused to send a contract unless they had a deposit ($500 of which the total became 1400) Moving along from that... My wife and I spent a long amount of time trying to put together a playlist which partially was played, most songs were simply left out. We brought a homemade dvd to play during the reception and for some unknown reason the dj could not get the sound to play... You are a dj are you not suppose to be in charge of the sound. The dj we had was all of 18 years old (I later found out that Whatcom Sound spread themselves too thin whith their bookings that the had to hire this kid), he then proceeded to repeat throught the night. Lastly the Owner of the company was completely unaccomodating when we asked for a portion of the money back.
I know the whole wedding thing is a scam... luckely enough this did not ruin the wedding but in no shape or form was it worth the money. Beware, its hard to put your trust in something that you can physically purchase like a DJ but this is not the one for you.
