I don't understand why some people are obsessed with this place. It's a chain restaurant with food that is about as close to Italian as milk is to donkeys (you can get it, sure, but it's reallly not the same thing).
The food here is actually really good, but just know this now that none of it is actually cooked there. This is why you cannot have your entree modified or changed. It all comes frozen and Olive Garden just heats it up and makes it look pretty.
I know I must sound like I'm dragging on this, but I do have to admit, I like going there sometimes. It's an occassional treat, but going there often seems sort of...sad, to me. Honestly, there is better and cheaper Italian food. It seems to me that people go gaga over their breadsticks (most marginal breadsticks ever, have you eaten a real one before in your life? If you have you know those breadsticks are trash) and salads (on the bright side, those are pretty good).
South Hill's Olive Garden is quite good, but it has about as many drawbacks as it does perks.
We had a group of 6. There was a bit of a wait but well worth it. Our food was fabulous. I had the Shrimp and Asparagus Risotto - Yum! Our waitress was excellent as well. Overall, we had a very good experience and look forward to going back.
My wife & I went there for her 53rd birthday. They would not serve her a glass of wine because she forgot her I.D. They don't care if you're obviously over 21. Food was OK, nothing that I would go back for. Service is extremely slow, and waitress was very rude. Will not go back as there are much better Italian restaurants to go to.

I didn't realize the food isn't prepared at the restaurant ! The last couple of times we ate there one of us got sick but I kept telling my husband the place is always so busy the food doesn't have chance to sit around and spoil. I guess I was way wrong.
That is not true that all the food is frozen and it isn't prepared fresh !! i work there and we have prep cooks in the kitchen all day making items for the food. You can modify the food I do it all the time. As for frozen all restaurants order in some items frozen as it would spoil fast otherwise , I have worked at several restaurants and no this is true. Rest assured the food doesn't sit in the window for more than a minute as we have food runners who run food immediately and this is by far the most clean kitchen I have ever worked in. As far as the breadsticks to each their own but I still love them and I have worked for the company for 7 years.
