My family and I recently moved to Puyallup from Austin Texas. I believe we are pretty good judges of BBQ. We have had BBQ from Georgia, Texas, Tennessee and St. Louis. Po-Boy was by far the most imbarable taste of BBQ we have ever eaten. Our BBQ pork ribs meals were dry and tough. It tasted as if were fed yesterdays leftovers. The plain coleslaw didnt impress me and the pork and beans tasted as if from a cheap can. Therefore, I have come to the conclusion, for the rest of my time being here in Washington we will continue to order our ribs from the State of Texas & Tennessee by internet. My family and I will leave this distasteful experience behind us. What a waste of money!
This place has the best BBQ in the state! I've been looking for good BBQ in this part of the country for over a year now and have had only slim success until i stumbled upon this little nugget. The thing that caught my eye was the outdoor smoker. You know good BBQ when u can smell it from a mile away. The home made salads are excellent! Their brisket is probably one of, if not the best i've ever had. I think thats sayin' alot coming from Texas. Their pork spare ribs have such good flavor from that smoker....mmmmm. They could be a bit more tender, but don't let that put you off. They are still to die for. Pulled pork, awesome. They offer something quite rare for any BBQ place, let alone one in the NW part of the country. BBQ beef ribs. These beef ribs are so filled with smoke flavor you dont need any sauce. Soooo good and such a treat to have a place like this with in driving distance. It's 30 minutes for me but well worth the drive. They are convienently located right on the main drag on South Hill in the same complex as Class Act Tattoo and Rent n' Roll. If you are EVER in the area stop by and try what they have to offer. If u know real BBQ you wont be disappointed. Heck they have been there 18+ years so they know what they are doin'.
Hubba Hubba!: This eatery is family-owned, real close to the South Hill Library. What I love about it is the huge wood pit bar-b-q outside, and the delicious smells coming from the food. The servings are ample; the potato salad is scrumptous. The staff is friendly, but since you're often the only ones inside, they don't hover. The biggest drawback of the place is that the location is out of the way, and the dining area needs to be updated. Great food for take-out!

Happy you need to try Bobs BBQ in tacoma just off 11th, Now thats a REAL southern bbq place( also being from a long line of southern family taste buds) Momma makes her stuff from scratch including all the desserts.. YUMMMMMMM
That is too bad that you have had such a limited BBQ experience. I've had BBQ and smoked foods all over this planet and the folks at Po-Boy put out a pretty fine spread. Maybe you need to move back to Texas where they only know how to do brisket.
