This restaurant was a nightmare. FIrst we waited for our server to wait on us. After 20 minutes, she didn't even greet us so we just picked up our things and moved to a different area. The upstairs lounge had an awesome server. She took our order and had our drinks out within no time. But poor thing was the only good server in the whole place because pretty soon she was running around like a mad woman waiting on atleast ten tables. Obviously, everyone kept moving upstairs away from the bad server.. But then it got bad because our food was late and cold. I cancelled my order and got home only to find I was over charged!WARNING Dont go here!!!!!
Although the ambiance is nice and the service is fine the food at the Silverwater is quite bad. What makes me most curious is why so many locals seem to recommend it so highly. The menu certainly has all the indications of a somewhat more sophisticated fare but, the dish that arrives to the table falls short of even acceptable. I can't help but wonder if the chef ever tasted anything they make. Honestly it seems that everything is directly from a box or a can. No nuance, complexity, subtlety, or originality whatsoever. Skip this place.
The Silverwater Cafe is possibly one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. My girlfriend and I visited Port Townsend this weekend and decided to try Lanzas Ristorante. However, we were told that reservations were "recommended". We would have had to wait for 2 1/2 hours to be seated. After asking around town I learned this is one of the better dining places there and neither of us were disappointed. We got a seat right away and prompt service.
First I remembered that we were dressed very casually and we were greeted right away in a courteous and friendly manner. No need to dress up if you go here you still get great service. The decor was homey although dusty in some parts. There was a long wait while our meal was being prepared which left plenty of time for a long relaxing conversation. Wine was available although we didn't have any. The smell was great throughout the restaurant but not overpowering. Just enough to make your mouth water. For an appetizer we had the Crap Caprese which is Crab, Mozzarella, and tomatoes smothered in a pesto sauce with light olive oil and vinegar. That was the best part of the meal for me. For Dinner I had the Petite Fillet Mignon (7 ounces - anything but petite) while my girl had the Pork Chops in white wine sauce. There were also home style mashed potatoes. The meal was so good it left me wanting the same thing the next day. To summarize the food was great the service was great and I know I am going there again someday. I am definitely going to recommend this place to my friends. Also there were a few cons... It was a little drab, a little dark for me, some cob webs in places, and the price was definitely up there, but overall it was all worth it.

Just a quick note... that is supposed to read Crab Caprese not Crap Caprese... Omg too funny.
