This place isn't even authentic mexican food. It's dumbed down for the locals. Why is it everyone in WA puts rice and beans in every type of burrito known to man?
Carnitas and Carne Asada burritos on the SW border do not come with these cheap fillers. It's all seasoned meat with pico de gallo and maybe some guacamole.
I have lived all along the SW border and if you think this is good Mexican food your Mexican food experience needs an upgrade.
The mexican restaurant bus on Meridian "Los Amigo's Taqueria" serves good Mexican food and blows this place out of the water hands down. Try the Carnita's plate or get the cheap pollo asado taco special for 5 bucks. You wont ever go back to Mazatlan.
I do not see the reason for peoples negativity towards this place and furthermore, it clearly sits well with most customers considering the restaurant is always packed around dinner time. They have the fastest service of any restaurant around and are always right there when you need a refill, etc. I am a frequent customer (going at least 4 times a month) and I have NEVER had a bad experience there. You can always count on your food coming quickly and being consistent. I also appreciate that fact that the workers are a team there. If someone that isn't your waiter sees that you need someone, they are eager to help. I would recommend Mazatlan to anyone!!
Wow, I'm sure some think this is Mexican food but it's not. It's Mexicanish but made for the gringos. Lacks spice and authentic flavor.
It's like Mexican fast food. It's ok but leaves a lot to be desired.
In fact the best Mexican food in Western WA that I have found so far is a little bus Parked outside a gas station in Meridian in Puyallup.
I have been terribly dissapointed in the Carnitas in the area. One restaurant actually asked me if i wanted my carnitas in beef, chicken or pork? For the 25 years that I lived in San Diego Carnitas were alway pork. The bus place makes them perfectly.
You can tell the bus is good food every time i go, it appears every Mexican in Puyallup is there.
