This place is beautiful! i read a review before i came up here to washington, and they said that it wasnt that great.... uh i dont know if they were blind...but the view when you get there is awesome. I come from texas, so i really wanted to see different animals other than the regular flamingos and tons of birds and what not. loved the pinguins, the aquarium, the polar bears... and the gift shop wasnt really expensive!

Excellent zoo and aquarium. Not the biggest or best I've been too, but what it lacks in size and selection compared to the big boys like the San Antonio Zoo or the San Diego Zoo, it more then makes up for in beauty and lay out. One of my favorite places to take all the little ones in the summer. Very friendly staff, and the peacocks roaming around everywhere (especially the food court, much to the chagrin of the staff!) is a lovely touch.

Better than Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle: It was mother's day and every thing was so convenient and the aquarium was just beautiful. Even though my kids are 11 and 14 the enjoyed themselves. So as you can see it's not just for little kids. They also have a theather for the smaller children. The cafe and deli are all over so you can find a break and the gift shop has many fascinating things to buy and at a reasonable price. One thing I didn't know is they had an indoor carrosel, and when you leave there is a park as well. I've also been to the ferry docks and there is a restaurant called Anthony's. We had one in Bellingham, WA where I grew up and my ex-boyfriend took me and they had excellent food and I am sure that this one at the Pt. Defiance ferry docks is excellent as well.
