I think it’s the best Mexican American restaurant in Yakima compared to other Mexican restaurants. The food is GOOD, it's always hot (and they do warn you that it’s hot), I wouldn't want my food to be warm or cold. The atmosphere has a Mexican taste, with karaoke music, the textures in the walls, the paintings and the workers itself. Plus, not to forget the tortillas are freshly made. Furthermore, if you like the Mexican culture, with its spicy food (I like my food spicy and other Mexican restaurants lack in this category), and want to go out and have a nice dinner I truly recommend El Mirador!

We took our 2 children there tonight. First I was appaulled when we waited to be seated the person seating us looked me dead in the eye gave me a smug look, looked down at the two that came in right after us and spoke Spanish to them they told her we were there first I think because she asked us 4 for dinner and looked at us smugly. Then we got sat I asked for the restroom as my 5yr old needed to use it badly she didn't understand me. I had to ask her again louder because she was walking away. Wow 2 bad hits before we even get our drinks. Our waitress gets to us and also doesn't understand us. What in the world is going on here? I realize the is Mexican food but English speakers also eat Ethnic quizean. I asked for some salsa that has no heat for my children what I got was vegitable soup. YUK!!! Ok we order when the food gets there its very hot ok there's a point to hot for my kids to eat point taken away. I ordered a chimichanga and a chalupa with the guacamole and sour cream on the side in seperate dishes as guacamole makes me gag. I got it both in the same bowl! My chimi had more beans than meat my chalupa the chicken was very lacking in flavor very bland almost like it had not been seasoned. The rice was lacking flavor as well and there was only a pinch of cheese on top of the beans. My husbands macho burrito was lacking that zing that brings him back. Then I look at my bill I was charged 2.95 for guacamole and .75 cents for sour cream. What because I gag at the texture I am charged almost 4 times more for it? Our meal cost us almost 40.00 for 2 adults and 2 children that's way to much money and for it to be bad to boot not worth it. While we were there we also saw several health code violations. I have read the codes recently as I voluteer and have to have a food handlers card. One the one who sat us and another put chips in baskets with out wearing gloves she also took a trash filled bag out of the trash can handed it to another staff member then got a bowl and put her thumb in it (after touching trash) then she took salsa and chips to another table. She also ate and then took chips and salsa to tables. A waitress touched her face with silverware. We also saw staff with long hair, their hair got into food. My advice go to El Pastor. Food is better cheaper and they don't discriminate or violate health codes.

The food was ok. a little bit to cheesy for my taste. The atmosphere on Sat night with the karoke was fun, but a little loud. They do have a great choice of top shelf tequilla's
