Best "fast food" in the tri-cities. If you love ice cream get a large swirl! The breaded mushrooms and the fish are delicious! And youve gotta get the tarter sauce! However it is a little spendy for fast food, its not uncommon to spend $25 bucks on food for 2!
In the late 60s this was THE hangout for the high school and CBC crowd. My parents met there! If it weren't for Zip's, I may not have been born!
While the building has changed over the years, the food has not. It's still a great burger and fish joint, if a bit greasy. But I believe that's the magic of Zip's. It's not processed junk - it's nearly all from scratch - and, while they're not very fast, they're worth every minute of the wait. I love that this branch of the Zip's mini-empire is in a section of town not really considered "fashionable" because it represents everything mall culture is not. Of course, the one near the mall is just as tasty, it simply doesn't have "that Zip's ambience" I grew up appreciating on so many levels.
This is the one place on Earth where the tartar sauce is not only edible (homemade, of course) but actually tasty, and the fries always seem to be perfectly cooked. The breaded mushrooms are divine, even though you have to wait what seems like an eternity before they cool down enough to eat them (just shows you how fresh they are!) and the burgers.... well... there's one for every taste. I can't say I recommend just one burger because I love them all!
I love this place. Its great food for kids and adults alike. The best in town. We drive sixty miles to come here. And well worth it.
