This place is a must see for the tourist on the Kenai Peninsula! It is on a bluff overlooking the Anchor River and is absolutely beautiful! The paintings are amazing and it almost seems absurd that one would fine talent on this grand a scale anywhere in Alaska! Norman Lowell is definitely the next Sydney Lawrence of Alaska! He also has beautiful grounds, a mini Butchart Gardens!!
Memories: I'll never forget the time my family and I first traveled to Homer for a long, four-day weekend. Back then, the road from Anchorage was narrow and full of frost heaves that gave us a 'rollercoaster' ride for nearly five hours, one way. The year was 1968. My mother just had to stop at the Norman Lowell studio on the way home. My father, sister and brother stayed in the car while she went in to look around. Iâm sorry I didnât go in and experience the beautiful painting in the studio back then. However, I have since, and have grown to appreciate the work of Norman Lowell. I also have the painting my mother emerged with back in 1968 from his studio and display it in a prominent area of our living room where all can see it.
The Norman Lowell Studio & Gallery Experience!: The Norman Lowell Studio & Gallery at Anchor Point, Ak. exceeded our expectations! The moment we opened the door and entered we were in awe of the beautiful paintings before us! The carpeting, the classical music and the baby grand piano in the middle of the gallery are breath taking. The paintings are magnificent! Mr. Lowell and his wife were present to answer any questions we had. They made my husband and I feel at home. All of this beauty is in the WOODS! You must visit this gallery to appreciate
the magnificence of it and to meet a wonderfully gifted artist who reflects God's creation through his faith and abilities.

I truly miss Alaska and the ability to go and visit with Norman and Libby as well as see the wonderful paintings and the gorgeous flower gardens. And I miss visiting with Libby while sipping a cup of tea! She was especially important to me back in 1989 when my world fell apart. And Norman was always an inspiration to me while trying to better my own art work.
