This small restaurant sits just inland from the Cook Inlet coast, along the highway between Soldotna and Homer. Along much of the road's length, you have spectacular views across Cook Inlet to Mt. Redoubt and Mt. Iliamna volcanoes, both of which are covered by huge glaciers. Redoubt erupted in the 1990's, and Iliamna is still smoking. There is no better cafe along the coast highway to stop and eat. Yes, the adjacent "lodge" is a bit run down, but the restaurant is wonderful, with great food and great service at reasonable prices. It's the best value for the money I know in that region. Once the "lodge" is brought up to the same standard, this will likely become one of the most popular stop-overs on the coast. S. Stringham
