Food is greasy. Smoking is allowed and you come out smelling like an ash tray.
The fries were undercooked and oily and the Ruben sandwich lacked that authentic, juicy taste. It is one of the few places open late in town however my taste buds will demand that I think twice before revisiting this place.
The Pioneer Cafe (or "The Pantry" as the locals like to call it) is one of the best meals you can get at 2:30 a.m. Picture it: It's Saturday night (Sunday morning), the bars have just closed and all of the sudden comes a barrage of drunken people looking to fill their bellies before heading home to literally pass out. It's great, if not solely for the entertainment value! You will definitely make some new friends because shortly after the drunken parade arrives seats are limited; the solution? sit with strangers! There isn't a better way to end an evening than hearing about others' alcohol-induced nightly adventures!
Needless to say, though, that this is one of the worst experiences one can imagine if you are sober. So drink up!
