I just wanted to warn people not to eat here, i used to work in the kitchen. I quit because it was dirty and unorganized. The owner, who prepares all the soups, would leave raw chicken breast out in tubs to thaw at room temp. One time they were out for 6 hours. He does this every day. They dont wear gloves when making the sandwiches. The Kitchen is unkept and overcorwded. He claims the desserts are made there, but they arent, they are all premade and frozen from FSA, along with the rest of the food, including the soups. Nobody keeps up on handwashing and they all repeatedly wear dirty aprons. They rarely get washed. There is moldy food in the fridge (and a case of beer for the owner...) I wouldnt eat there, im afraid of food poisoning.
I thought the food and service here was excellent. It's just hard to justify going out to dinner for food that I could make --most of it anyway-- at home.
I have to say that I do love the food. But the customer service really sucks. Very rude and I feel like I am not welcome. Like I am making there job more harder. Sorry no tip for you. Also the soup is not homemade people.... have you heard of FSA FOOD SERVICE OF AMERICA. I think the only thing they bake fresh is the cookies and pies. The bread is for sure not made there.

I don't know when you last worked there but I'm a former employye as well. I haven't been there in over 3 yrs because my husband got stationed somewhere else. When I worked there it was never like that. Robyn and Koh where constantly on us to keep the kitchen and the ohter parts of the store clean. It was a fun place to work and Robyn baked everything that was in that dessert case. As well as making sure the soups were fresh and tasty. Anything that was considered old was thrown out. There was never any liquor in the kitchen.
hey cariann, i meant to give you an update. i haven't been working for the chowder house since last july. i'll be opening the doors on my very own place soon. robyn
