Great place: Have had 2 tats done here and 4 piercings. Great friendly, helpful, and very clean. Wonderful work and the staff is very professional. Best place to have work done.
Update I've had 4 more tattoos done and working on another one. Just can't decide where to put this one...Steve is great. And I can't say enough about the staff and how they put up with the clients asking a million questions
I got my first tattoo from here. I requested to get it done by Milo (because I heard he was a legend) but incidentally he had just broken his hand and all the tattoos were getting done by Steve. While getting the tattoo by Steve, he was making conversation and asked where I work. When I told him, he went off for at least 30 minutes about what a douchebag my boss was. It got a little old.
In regards to the tattoo itself, I'd been wanting it for about 10 years and when I finally got it I was less than satisfied. The shading was not even, the lines of the black outline were not even connected and Steve had shaded OUTSIDE of the lines (hello, flashbacks to 1st grade?? color in the lines??) The shading was so limited and left so much white space that it looked like the tattoo was meant to be a white tattoo instead of a blue tattoo that it was.
At the time, I didn't know any better (it being my first tattoo) and I was leaving the country a week later so could not get it touched up by Steve (not that I would voluntarily go back). Now, two years later and overseas, I got my second tattoo and asked my tattooist to touch up Steve's tattoo. The difference is like night and day...The tattoo my current artist gave me looks like a beautiful piece of art and Steve's tattoo looks like a cartoon or child's drawing. My tattoo artist touched Steve's up as much as she could, and this has improved it but it will never be as beautiful as it could be if done by a real artist.
Moral of the story: if you are wanting a tattoo, do NOT go to the local place simply because it is convenient. If you live anywhere in Southeast Alaska, you are better up saving up and going to Seattle to get work done instead of taking the local or cheap trip on the ferry to Juneau to get work done at Pair-A-Dice Tattoo.
Tattoos are with you FOREVER - and the amount that another artist can fix a botched job is limited. Unless you want to pay and go through the agony of tattoo removal, be selective of where you get tattooed and insist on a quality artist. You will not find these in Juneau, Alaska and certainly not at Pair-A-Dice.
while visiting family I found this great little tattoo parlour. It's a lively place with very nice staff. Stevie G. is an awesome artist and a lot of fun. Great prices, Great work. Even my mom loved my flowers! Very realistic and colorfull.
I will definitely visit agian.
