| About: | Formerly known as Archie's Bunker, this establishment has cleaned up its act and is now one of the hottest joints for pop, rock, R&B and jazz. Many of the best local bands grace the stage at this popular music bar and grill. You will even catch an occasional national performer on select weekends. Catering to a primarily working class clientele, this hangout also offers food. During the week it's a full lunch menu featuring home made soups. Each evening it's a burger special. Beer, wine, liquor or soft drinks are available. Food is served from 11 am to 3 pm while burgers are served till midnight. |

If you want fabulous music (I'm partial to the Combo, which has been playing here every Sunday & Monday for over 20 years) and a mature group, along with the surprisingly frequent celebrity, Bunkers is a great hangout. Where else will you find a bar packed on a Monday night? The regulars know why it has the reputation it does.
Diverse crowd with great music: I you like live music without the hassle of some larger places go to Bunkers.
Okay Lunch Place: Since I work in the neighborhood, I eat at Bunker's a lot. Probably upwards of fifty times so far. The food is mediocre, but it's more reasonably priced than some other places, and you can sit down, read, and just chill out.
I've never been a bar or live music patron at Bunker's, though, so I can't speak for those experiences. As a lunch patron, though, they're basically mediocre. There's one waitress who's great, but another who's bad -- bad like the sitcom, bad-waitress stereotype kind of bad.
The food is decent if you like heavy, greasy bar food. The burgers and chicken sandwiches are good and come in a good variety. Their salads are okay, but pretty unimpressive -- mostly iceberg lettuce. Avoid their seafood items, though. I got a shrimp wrap once, and it was vile. Maybe I'm prejudiced because I come from a coastal city and grew up on excellent seafood, but Bunker's seafood is bad. You also get the impression that it's not the most sanitary kitchen (or dining area, for that matter) in the world. It's pretty divey overall.
It's a decent place to grab a burger, but it's not worth making a special trip. If you're craving something fresh or healthy, don't bother. Also, the price is still a bit high for the quality of food. Tip included, you'll spend more than $10.
I'd be interested in going one night for drinks and live music, since that's the focus of the place.
