Grumpy's Bar

Grumpy's on mainstreet in St. Boni has pizza that is hand made fresh. The family bar has a strong following and service is improving nightly. I have been a patron for over three years and enjoy the small town atmosphere, it keeps me coming back. In addition to great food the bar has live music on the weekends and free poker tournaments on Wednesday and Sunday.

Very bad experience. We went in for pizza at 7:00pm on a Wednesday night. Ten minutes or so later, we were asked what we ordered. I asked why we needed to say it again because she already wrote it down. She said she threw it away so I told her again what kind of pizza we wanted. We waited for about an hour watching about four pizzas be delivered to tables and to some at the bar who had come in after we did, the last was for take out. Then they brought our pizza but we realized that ours was given as the take out order and we got theirs instead. By this time we had been there for about two hours already and chose to eat the pizza anyway but they said there would be no charge. My sister paid the bill with a credit card and we walked outside laughing because she had a couple margaritas and I was making her walk the line in the sidewalk. Then I heard some hard, rapid pounding on the window in the bar that faces the street. It was the bartender with the bill in her hand holding up her index finger. At first I thought my sister had forgotten to sign the slip, and she wanted us to come back in and do that, but then she turned her hand knuckle side to us with her index finger still raised and made a very distinctive upward gesture with the back of her index finger, clearly to say "up yours!" We were caught off guard completely. I went back in and got in her face asking "what was that about? [she looked down, no reply] I thought I saw a finger." "I don't think so", she said. I left. My sister and I still didn't know why she was angry with us in the first place. So, wanting to find out, I went back in again and tried to ask her why she was upset. She said "You come in here and accuse me of what you did, you can just leave!" I tried to explain that I just wanted to know what the problem was. She was so rude, wouldn't let me say anything. She had an attitude from the moment she went on her shift that night. We thought we found a nice friendly neighborhood bar and grill we could hang out at close to home. We've been there a couple times a week prior to last night and never had a problem with anyone else there and the pizza is good when it is the kind you like. But I've never experienced service at a bar or any other establishment as unpleasant as at Grumpy's in St. Bonifacius, MN

I only ordered food to go, so I don't know how drinking at the bar is here, but the food was terrible! And expensive! Will never order any food from this place again. Onion rings totally tasted like they were fried with fish and they were burnt. Yuck!
