I've been a resident of the Twin Cities since 2004 and am an avid Thai food lover and have eaten at many of the well known and expensive places. I just recently visited for the second time a place which I will now officially say is my most favorite Thai place in the Twin Cities. Now the Ritz Carlton it's not (they do have a great little garden and fountain outside as you walk in that's really cool), but if you love absolutely delicious food at great prices with generous portions and enjoy a place where the owner is the person serving you and you aren't afraid to venture South of the River then you have to try this place out, I just can't say enough about it. So feel free to wear your casual clothes or work attire and enjoy. Now after reading this, I feel like I'm writing an ad for this place, but I'm an individual and when some non chain little place has things figured out, I can't do enough to promote them and this place is awesome.

Too bad Thailand View is not still there! We loved it, and were indescribably disappointed when we found it had closed. We were excited when we saw that, after a year of vacancy, it had been re-inhabited; we had high hopes for the new owners. But if their lunch buffet is any indication of the dinner entrees, then don't bother. Aside from a so-so Kung Pao Chicken on the hot buffet, there was nothing worth eating. And on the cold buffet...hang on, I'm still recovering. They actually had Saltines in one of the trays, alongside canned peaches and supermarket cole slaw. I dearly miss The Thailand View - but coming back to the same location will not appease your craving. Drive to Spice Thai on 42 instead. It is mediocre, to be sure - but it will satisfy you desire for Thai food better than this place will.
This place closed some time towards then end of summer 2007 and the new "operation" lacks all the nice things the View had. No more good food or service.
In Awe!: It is suprising that a resturaunt this good is in Shakopee. The food is top class. Its nothing you would expect from a typical asian cuisine, in regards to taste and portions for the money. You can tell that each meal they prepare for you is an attempt to make you lifetime customers. Its that good. I'm suprised that it isnt too busy during the day. I guess the nearby kfc buffet, and perkins takes up all of the local business. If you are new to thai food, this is where you need to start. If you are looking for good food for your money, the same.
